We have been in the piano business since 1953 when Ronald Ware the founder of our piano business completed his apprenticeship at Hickies & Hickies music shop Boscombe, Dorset where his master could also trace his learning lineage back to the 19th century. We have been expertly restoring, repairing and tuning pianos for Radio 4, music colleges, and were former County Council contract school piano tuners and repairers for Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex, Harrow and Bucks. Welmar pianos were the best of all British piano manufacturers. Welmar made by Welpdale Maxwell & Codd Ltd who imported Bluthner pianos into the UK and in the later years were helped out by Bluthner as Welpdale Maxwell & Codd Ltd got into financial difficulties in the 1990s as did all British piano manufacturers sadly. This model dates from being one of the very last pianos to be manufactured in 2002 as they ceased trading in 2003.

This Welmar is beautifully made in a very traditional manor and is built structurally like a tank. It’s a very heavy piano very well built with Abel German hammers under felted giving a high end tone. Raised key balance rail bushings helping a very balanced touch. Real Ebony wood for the key sharps.

This piano has hardly been used and is like new, the case is in good order. Cosmetically the piano is very pleasing to look at with its striking warm Walnut veneers.

This piano represents a far better buy than any new piano around the same price.
